The Sunset Parade
"The Sunset Parade" - Since September 1956 the Marines from the "Oldest Post of the Corps" - Marine Barracks, Washington, DC - have hosted a parade at the Marine Corps War Memorial near Arlington National Cemetery.
On November 10, 1954 a bronze monument was unveiled at the Arlington National Cemetery. Depicting the flag raising on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima, the Marine Corps war Memorial was dedicated “in honor and in the memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps. This parade features the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps with their "Music in Motion" and the precision rifle handling of the Silent Drill Platoon. It's a spectacular show of patriotism and pageantry that shouldn't be missed.
The Evening Parade stands as a lasting tribute to those for whom “uncommon valor was a common virtue” and is symbolic of the pride and professionalism of all United States Marines who stand ready to enter harm’s way.
